Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on GOODNESS! God has blessed us beyond what so many across the globe have, and with great riches comes great responsibility. Today, we look at how we might reconsider our own wealth, while we also build our heavenly wealth, by giving what He's given us to those who have less than we do.

God has given us gifts, and ways of expressing the goodness of God we've experienced that will be on display for the whole world, to see our good works and praise our Father in Heaven... that is, if we let that light within us shine, and don't keep it to ourselves! So, for goodness sake... LET IT SHINE!

When someone says that they have faith in God, but their actions don't follow the trust in God they claim to have, the Bible says it may not be real faith... because real faith brings about the Spirit's power, and when the Spirit's power is at work... so are we, doing good works - which shows the world that our faith is the real deal!

"Is It Cake?"

Goodness is one of those things that many people try to fake... many people try to show, because they know it's a good thing to show... but their hearts aren't really filled with goodness... sometimes it's just what's on the outside that people see, but God sees what's in the heart... and He knows real goodness. Goodness that comes through the Spirit.

Just like a tall person seems to have been born to play basketball (though it's not always true), we as Christians ARE born to do good works... good works that God already has planned for us... if we walk in the Spirit, goodness will grow, and others will be blessed!

We all have to watch ourselves, that we don't start to look down on other people for the things that they do, because we all came from places where we wrestled with sin. God's strategy for winning people over isn't shame, or guilting them... it's kindness, and it's what He wants for us to use as our own strategy as well!

"Why Are You Hitting Yourself?"

We're told in Proverbs that when we are kind to one another, it's like caring for ourselves, as we care for each other. What we give out, we're more likely to get. When we love others, it's like loving ourselves... but when we love only ourselves, we aren't likely to receive the love we want, or even need.

Kindness is a forward facing fruit... meaning it's a fruit that's meant to be shared with others. How we treat people, with a warmth and care will demonstrate the fruit of kindness... our passage today also shows us how our kindness can lead us to standing for justice, as we humbly offer ourselves to God bigger mission for the world!

He's always shown up, like He said He would... so let's anxiously wait for Him to return, because one day... we'll finally get to see Him face to face!
