Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on JOY! Our passage today reminds us how important it is, for the joy of one another and for the joy of the Lord... that we bond together as the church in one mind, spirit and hope... grounded in Jesus and His will for the world, not in our expectations and entitlements. Our passage today in Proverbs reminds us that the hope we have in Jesus will have a fulfilling moment of joy... while those whose boast is in what they have or in anything outside of Jesus, will see their hope pass away. Our passage in James reminds us that when trials come, we should see those times as opportunities for joy - but why? Because, when our faith is tested, and revealed... we learn. When we learn, we grow... when we grow... we become strong... and so we can joyfully accept hardship as an opportunity to grow in joy, which we know - will also make us stronger!

"Counter Fit Love"

This is why this passage is so important for us. We can follow the signs to real love, and learn to identify when something is a counterfeit... or a counter fit for the real thing.

Today, we're reminded that God didn't wait for us to be clean, or get our acts together before showing us His love... in fact, Jesus died for us - that we might be made clean by His blood... washing us, and making us holy. He didn't stay far off when we were sinners... he drew near, and His love helped make us clean.

If we can learn to utilize a natural reflex to mimic those around us, and use it to love and serve the way that Jesus loved us... we can follow in His footsteps, which is what He wants for us... to love others because He FIRST loved us!

"Simple Instructions"

Sometimes the Bible can be complex, and hard to understand at first... but when the Bible is clear, and SIMPLE... it can be so easy to understand, but difficult to do. Today's passage reminds us that the ask is simple, while not always easy in practice... we are to do everything with love!

"Inside Out Fruits"

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we set up where we're going, by thinking about how what happens inside of us will show outside of us. This is what the Bible means by "fruit." When the Spirit is at work inside of us, you will know by how we act and speak... but when we're being motivated by the flesh, very different things will come out of our mouths and lives.

"Torn Down to Build Up"

Our focus this week is all about how God wants us to TRUST HIM! The ultimate sign of trust, and belief in God's bigger plan, is when we - as his kids - can receive any circumstance in life as a gift from God. Either in blessing, or growth... nothing is wasted with God, as He will use even our deepest pain to build us up. We are built up in Truth, but also in how we're broken down and built back up in the character and strength He develops in us through hard times. Everything is useful, even when it hurts.
