Generation Kids Daily Devo

As we begin a NEW YEAR and a NEW SEASON of our Generation Kids Daily Devo Podcast, we begin by focusing on "New Beginnings." God has invited His people to dine with him at an incredible feast... but we so often, just as His covenant people, Israel, did... get distracted, become disinterested or flat out defiant in our avoidance of nearness to Him. So His invitation spreads out to the entire world, for all who would accept His invitation, He has a chair... the special covenant He once had with only Israel, now extends to us as well... so, you wanna go to a feast?

As we begin a NEW YEAR and a NEW SEASON of our Generation Kids Daily Devo Podcast, we begin by focusing on "New Beginnings." Like newborn babies, we are born with a hunger and thirst to survive and to grow. As we get older, we begin to learn things - some voluntarily and others out of necessity... but some things we just know deep within us. When we've tasted and seen the goodness of God, as believers - we begin to thirst for "spiritual milk"... or the knowledge and Word of God. By it we grow and by it we have life. May we taste and see, and then share the good news of the goodness of God with others!

When we are in Christ, we aren't just taken back to the way we should have been or were at the beginning... indeed, the Bible says that the old way of "us" passes away, and the new "us" comes to live. We literally become something new. From a body of flesh and blood to the literal temple of the Holy Spirit, filled with His presence, and exuding the light and love of God to those around us.

As we begin a NEW YEAR and a NEW SEASON of our Generation Kids Daily Devo Podcast, we begin by focusing on "New Beginnings." The Bible is full of them, and all the way back in the Old Testament, God had a plan for His people... for a new beginning beyond the law, and beyond the sacrifices of animals for the sin of men. He would offer His own Son... His only Son, Jesus - as a sacrifice, in fact THE sacrifice for all men, forever. In Jesus, God balanced His desire for justice for sin, and His love for those He made in His image... through His death, burial and resurrection. We have so many reasons to celebrate, but they all start with Jesus... so as we begin a new season, let's remember who is the reason!

Today we take a look back at where we've been this semester, as we prepare for a new season of summer - to explore, and journey on our own a little... to find God in our own stories. As we look back, we anticipate all that God has for us moving forward. Make sure you begin to pray and think about how you will praise God at the END of the summer, in a way that He's gifted and inspired you. We hope to make some cool videos or posts to share that can encourage others as we start the next year's edition of the Daily Devo Podcast!

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on SELF-CONTROL! Much like a shaken up carbonated beverage... when there is something bubbling up within us, it's important to take a moment to let things decompress and allow the pressure to lessen. When we learn the signs, and when we're walking in the Spirit - we can be alerted early to the rumblings, and allow God to remind us He's in control, and watch as the Spirit slowly eases the tension, like a can slightly cracked without fully opening and spewing on everything and everyone around you.

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on SELF-CONTROL! As believers, there are two parts of us... the part that leads to death, otherwise known as the flesh... and the part that leads to life, which is found in the Spirit. Which ever one we feed will grow... both last forever, and only one is good... so feed the Spirit, and have LIFE!

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on GENTLENESS! In a world full of people, striving to be better than the next person, Jesus tells us to stop striving. We can't earn what He freely gives... He wants us to stop with the intensity of action, and start leaning in to a gentleness that sees the Spirit move through us. We don't need to be impressive, when Christ - who is at work in us - is inviting others through the gentleness He exhibits towards us, in us and through us.

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on GENTLENESS! Gentleness isn't weakness or frailty... it's a maturity in strength... it's knowing how strong you are, or how weighty your words and actions are, and adjusting the intensity, volume or tone - so that others feel loved and cared for. Strength uncontrolled is at the heart of destruction... but strength under control is at the heart of gentleness!

Our focus for the next couple of months is all about the Fruits of the Spirit! This week, we are focusing on FAITHFULNESS! A faithful friend knows how hard it can be to be honest with each other, but when the opportunity arises for us to gently push one another back towards the truth, in love - we take it... because otherwise, we're no different to an enemy - watching our friends struggle with something they don't see - that we do. If their "fly is down" - be a faithful friend, and tell them!
